French Gastronomy Added to UNESCO Heritage List

Today, French gastronomy and French cooking were added to the UNESCO World Heritage list after 3 years of deliberation.

Baguette anyone?

Escargot in parsley garlic butter

Moules

Typical traditional French restaurant "Wines and Traditional Lands"

Isn't this exciting?? Now every time I eat Foie Gras, Moules or Escargots, I know that I'm supporting a living heritage that the whole world recognizes. Do your part to support this world heritage, come to France and eat!

Foie Gras you can keep, I just hate the way it is produced. Snails, mussels, oysters and anything else that is French I will eat and eat. Yum yum. Diane

Don't have the cash to come, but I can still enjoy baguettes here (however they're spelled).

Congratulations, France. C'est formidable!

I've just come back from almost a week of supporting French cuisine - mostly by overindulging in bread and cheese ;)

Excellent news, hadn't seen that. Hope they count crêpes in as part of the heritage. And profiteroles !

All these years I have been travelling to France from Australia, trying local specialities, breathing the scents and experiencing the unforgettable but simple tastes...a joy which is now correctly recognised
