More About Paris

I just got some more pictures from Gini today by email of our time in Paris. Remember I talked about talking a picture with the CRS? Well, here it the group, making fun of their collegue, and me.

The next day we went on a guided tour of the Palais Garnier (l'Opéra). Everything is so gorgeous and so amazing, I couldn't copy enough pictures to show you. Have a look here for a good collection of photos of the inside of the palace. The tours are both in English and French. I can highly recommending taking one if you're in Paris.

Wednesday evening, we went to a very nice restaurant called Le Gaigne in the Marais. Le Gaigne doesn't mean anything, it's a play on words of the chef's name, Gagnon. It's at 12, avenue Pecquay, 4th.

We had the gourmet menu, 5 dishes with wine. The first dish was a terrine de lapin and foie gras.

The second dish was a bowl of autumn veggies with a potimarron purée. Double yummy!

The third dish was colin (a lovely white fish like cod) on a bed of home-made macaroni and comté cheese. Triple yummy!

The main course was a Coucou (of this I kid you not) with the white meat in a corn sauce, and the dark meat in a wine sauce with topamnibours (jerusalem artichaukes). Quadruple yummy!!

And because we were such piglets by the time dessert arrived, we forgot to take a picture of the St. Honoré of quince. Dessertly yummy!!! The photo below is of a St. Honoré dessert from Flickr. Ours looked pretty much the same with a little less cream on it and with quince inside.

Me out in front of the restaurant after the meal, making a face, as usual.

And this is the very first weekend, when Gini was here at my house. We went to Sancerre, one of my all-time favorite little towns with delicious wine.

So after your profile, you should speak french.

Les châteaux de la Loire, sont encore un rêve devant pour moi.
Mais, je me balade partout en France, quand les championnats d'orpaillage m'en donne l'occasion. Mon blog en est témoin.
Un petit coucou de Lausanne en Suisse.

Beatrice De, yes I do speak French but I'm not that good at writing especially when I want to be funny.
Thanks so much for visiting from Switzerland!

Looks like you had a grand time, Dedene. Fancy restaurant, but they didn't give you more than a five course tasting session, it appears.
